About Conversations over Coffee

Coffee might be a little quirky for some people to sing about and try to digest (pun intended). But I must say, it’s how I’d probably sum up the majority of the growth and personal transformation in my own life. I think back to just about every season of life, and I’ve been gifted with someone who had the time to sip a grande or venti for an hour or two.

I recently played a rough mix of "Coffee" for someone. He told me that he ‘didn’t get it.’ Hopefully, it's not too cryptic; redeemed conversations lead me to transformation.

It’s over cups of coffee that friends don’t allow me to get away with stupid stuff. When I’m at my best, I’m confessing it to them before they have to ask. It’s over cups of coffee where I’ve heard truth spoken to me (or at me), and I’ve benefited from it greatly. It’s time spent together with real people who see through our acts of humanity that the old stuff is thrown off, and the new stuff is put on.

So, here’s to Bart, Andy, Saul, Pat, Bruce, Jake, Darin, Nate, Bill, Rick, Ben,… the list could go on, and the list continues to change and grow.

These are the guys who have taken the time to take time with me.

I hope I have served them back in some small way.
