The Group

I’D BEEN LOOKING FOR A GROUP to join…With people who:

CONSULT
sell

Sign contracts
to churches & church leaders

but…

still love the church
STILL serve the church
and want to
keep their souls while doing it

But I couldn’t find one.
SO I JUST STARTED ONE.

IF you are a coach, consultant, FUND-RAISER, or salesperson to the faith community you should join us.

For about 15 years I’ve been working in some capacity with churches. I have presented proposals and lived and died by the day waiting for signed contracts in strategy, fundraising, facility, AVLA, higher ed, for-profit, nonprofit, staffing, start-ups, large companies, coaching & consulting. I have been a sales guy and a consultant and hired sales guys and consultants.

THIS GROUP IS NOT ABOUT MY SPECIAL PROCESS.
IT IS ABOUT PEER LEARNING AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

I’ve primarily worked via airplanes, Lyft, rental cars, and hotels, in all but two states, and Canada. That’s a lot of churches, a lot of proposals, and a lot of waiting on people to sign proposals.

What I haven’t gleaned from very smart people I’ve stolen or learned the hard way at every stage.

IF YOU ARE A SOLO-PRENEUR OR PART OF A LARGER TEAM YOU SHOULD JOIN US.

All along the way, I’ve always wished I could be in a group of other people similar to me who understand what it’s like to get a local church to sign a contract so you can help them. I always learn new things and meet new people doing this. It’s why I do it.

So, IF YOU HATE BEING CALLED A:

  • CONSULTANT

  • SALESPERSON

  • RECRUITER OR FUNDRAISER

and THAT’S WHAT YOU really DO…KEEP READING. MAYBE WE’LL BE FRIENDS.

Here’s how it works:

The Format:

We meet monthly for one 90 minutes.

  1. It is six weeks in length. Limited to 4 individuals (plus me) via zoom.

  2. Week one is a casual chat to just introduce yourself and get to know each other.

  3. Each week one of us is on the hot seat. I will go first (yes, I actually do this to learn from you, too!)

  4. Each individual will present their case…what they do, how they do it, what they are learning, and the big question they are asking right now.

Things We Typically Talk About:

Lead generation, sales funnel, how this is not marketing, launching as a solopreneur, helping people move forward, what to do when you are broke and need to get a signed a contract, starting, getting along with teammates, being conflicted, what we are learning, what we are reading, why aren’t people buying, our market niche, overwhelming sales managers, being alone, how to start, hot to sustain, and how to write a great proposal and lots of other things…

What people are saying:

“Kuddos to this group because of our last meeting it sparked a wider conversation with our sales team that led to some good things.”

- Shane Nixon, Inside Sales, Amplio.Group

“If nothing else showing up at The Group monthly made me think about sales. As guys who love the church we are in deep coaching and delivering every month. These six weeks have been helpful and a great reminder to stay after it.”

- Doug Parks, Co-Founder, IntentionalChurches.com

"I didn’t know what to expect with this group, but it seriously was the best “experiment” I could have hoped for. Selling to churches sometimes gets repetitive and puts me in my slump. This was a great remedy. I learned a ton and was reminded again why I do this.”

- Zach Lahm, Sr. Solutions Engineer, HouseRight.com

“As a new soloprenuer in church world, I’ve found myself in some pretty lonely spaces. There’s tons of questions rattling around in my head, with no one person out there who can help answer them all. Doing business with churches is such a niche market, and there’s only so much helpful information out there. This group was exactly what I needed to help me answer my questions, build my confidence, and it even provided a network of people I didn’t have before. Super grateful!”
